Not that sure about the button’s roll over, though, so different in each case from the others. However it matches with the rest of the composition.

It's really interesting how he solved the drop shadow transparency problem with the overhanging "Hello my name is" sticker. That sort of thing would drive you bonkers in Internet Explorer. It looks like Sean used a gif to create the illusion of a drop shadow hanging over the static background. Very creative.

It is a very nice site, and a great "beta". I like the cool rollovers on the top menu. The audio one with the head phones is my favorite. Podcast are another great ministry tool to youth. Also, I like the static background looks when you scroll the page. Keep up the good work.

On January 20, 2006 4:43 PM me said:yes, i thought the exact same thing the instant i saw it.. the style does resemble the tnvacation site.. maybe it's by the same person/set of people.
i like the style very much though. a bit overwhelming but beautiful.

I was suprised when the background never scrolled with the page. Not to many designers do that as effectivly as this one has!

It is riotous, confused and without any sense of priority or coordination.
My respect to the designer, but I don't like it.

On January 22, 2006 7:33 PM Christian Montoya said:We are really going backwards with all these pixel-height sites. Notice how many things overflow when you increase the text size... and how can you not increase the text size, considering how small the default is?
Then again, the text uses pixels or something, because it definitely doesn't resize in IE. This is nice for everyone at 96 dpi, but not the rest of us at 120.
The beating goes on: websites aren't paintings, websites aren't paintings. Design should be accessible, please don't use pixels. But then the noobs who made this site get featured on CSS Beauty. Oh well.

i would like to express my thought on what mr. montaya stated on what a web should'nt be.
i believed that website can be anything the creator wishes it to be.
have you ever heard of postmodernism?
On January 24, 2006 9:39 AM Yeah Whatever said:Busy-overdesigned, my first impression. Hard to read was my second. Design, is kind of cool was my third. Pretty Neat rollovers was my fourth-- 'bout sums it up.
This is not a site I would want to read everyday. That red background really distracts your eye from the text. So either they were trying to do that because the content is lame, or they worried more about the background then readability. Either way its fine because....
maybe readibility or usability wasn't the goal, I don't know. The target audience seems like teenagers, and this site will probably appeal to that age group.
So.. well done ... I suppose.

On January 26, 2006 4:01 PM Marco said:Christian Montoya> While I agree usability is important, sites showcased on places such as CSSBeauty are usually chosen because of their nice design and use of CSS. I guess usability isn't really a criterium here. It's important, yes, but not when deciding whether a site should be listed as a nice CSS site example or not.
On January 26, 2006 11:38 PM Sean S said:Thank you to everyone who shared your thoughts about this site/project. It really means a lot to be featured here and receive such high praise! THANK YOU!
Christian, the choice to disallow font resizing (for IE only) was made in order to maintain the complex design. Since the site is degrades nicely with styling turned off, accessibility does not suffer. Perhaps a "turn styling off" link would suffice?

Good job!
On January 28, 2006 12:54 AM P.J. Onori said:It's a little over-styled for my taste. I get the fact that you're catering towards a target audience, but I have to agree about the downside of the rigidity of the design to pull it off.
There's no doubt that it's well executed - I just think there's too much trying to be communicated to get anything across to the user.
On January 31, 2006 4:40 PM Dustin Diaz said:The design is pretty. But I don't know what to look at. It looks more like a flyer. And why the "Beta Version" - I doubt the "Church Generation" is going to understand that.
