I want to know how visually pleasing the website is to the eye. Or what's wrong with the general design, too much contrast? It'll probably be all subjective. Then I'd like to know like how easy the content is to read... what do you see first when entering pages.

Is the use of AJAX too much? The tooltips too much?

We're going to be trying to introduce a population to this website, and I need to make a website that people aren't scared to visit. any help guys?

Being perfectly candid (because you asked), I think it is pretty bad -- I am a little scared.

    Here are my "PERSONAL OPINIONS":
The red video tape graphics along the side and top need to go -- the cheesy factor is killing it for me visually. The logo is creative and can work with little tweaks. The headline area has to go, way too much going on in the top, my eye hits it, stops and its so conflicted with what to do next. Body copy is pretty good, i like that style.

I have to run into a meeting now, that is all i have for now, hope it helps!

honestly i wouldn't visit this site more than once. not without disabling styling so I could read without being distracted.

I think there is far too much going on in this design, the opacity on the tooltips doesn't help.
The red/pink colors clash IMO and the black doesn't help with that...
Work with whites and darker reds. No pink/red combos.

as mringlein said, the top is cluttered and confuses the reader as to where he/she's supposed to look next.

Yeah, it's kind of hard to pin this site's problems down. The color combonation is certainly conflicting, but it's more than that. It lacks some of that finesse that just takes time to work out.

I think I strained my eyes with that bright red, being in a dark room and all... It kind of reminds me why one isn't supposed to look directly at the sun. There are plenty of decent color schemers available online - finding one of those should be your top priority.

use easyrgb.com's color harmonies page. it's free, and it makes wonderful color schemes and they're easy on the eyes.

The contrasting colors and geometric and simple shapes were following an Art Deco theme, which I'm learning doesn't apply well to web design... I'll work on fixing that.
Thanks for all the comments, I'll use them to better the site.
