It's official now. IE7 has been released. The push of the updated browser via Microsoft Automatic Updates is supposed to be "a few weeks after it’s available for download".

So go download it, and let's see if they roll out any security patches for it before they push the browser out to the masses :P

You an download a standalone version of IE6 here:

    http://browsers.evolt.org/?ie/32bit/standalone

Then go ahead and install IE7.

I've been running standalone 5,5.5 and 6 for a while now with no ill effects.

    I doubt it.

Although users of IE6 will get an automatic update to 7. Users of 5 and 5.5 won't.

If they havent changed their browser by now they'll probably keep using it till their next computer!

Browsers usually get updated when people install a new OS.

    Wow.
    just installed IE7 very impressive.
    Specially font rendering very smooth.
If you compare with Mozilla Firefox you should see the difference.

    Cheers, DS

I'd be interesting to see how stats change, I'm sure many computers download and install ms updates automatically.
