Well to tell you the turth I'm not sold on that story. Who knows what happened with cssreboot, maybe it got sold, maybe the owner is sick...

To me, it doesn't seem as though this new site was developed with good intentions.... Ads everywhere... If helping the community is their main concern, then ads would be low priority.

The whole reboot thing became a joke the last couple of times, with making money being top priority. This new site doesn't seem to do any better.

You'd be able to cover bandwidth costs with 1 ad... I've been running this type of site for a while now... You are going to have to do better than that to convince me.

Well let me try to convince you Droppyale.
there are not adds all over the place. there is a link unit at the top of the site and a 2 ad link to the right of the white papers. the sponsors while can be considered ads or more of showing love to the people who are helping me get the word out. Money is not the top priority of this site.

The site was designed with the intentions of continuing the idea of the reboot. The idea is bigger than any one person or site. CSS reboot was sold in june, ever since then it has been down hill mostly due to the new owner not being able to get their hands on a trusted rails developer. In the last two weeks the blog has been shut down, he no longer responds to emails and the gallery and reboot section of the site is full of mysql errors. There has been no word as to whether the cssreboot will still happen. tell me why then should the last 3 or 4 yeas of building up of this event suddenly go dark?

Tell me alex, you have ads on this site, is ad sale and clickage a major concern of cssbeauty? The ads on standards reboot are clearly marked and segmented, there is no trick placement to try to lure people into clicking on them they arent styled the same as the other links onthe page, yadda, yadda. i'm actually quite surprised at your response, I would have expected someone in your position to have a bit more understanding, with your experience of coming after such sites as cssvault and stylegala, and coming under fire for much of the same you are implying of this site. But of course everyone is intitled to their own.

All i can hope is that people see this for what it is: the continued effort to keep the idea of the reboot alive and moving forward. As an aside I have told many people in emails and may as well also make it public, but if cssreboot manages to rebirth itself for the may reboot then i have no problem working along side them in conjunction to the reboot, the standardsreboot site could easliy be made into a sister site to showcase sites that are more standard compliant than the average cssreboot site. Which would duelly satisfy the standardistas out there and have another place where people can see what stides have been and are being made in standards design.

P.S.
I also thought that the reboot had become too monitized and as such there will be no purchasing of front page showcases, that way less visible designers get to shine.

I'm not against having ads on a site, but when I see 7 slots for ads on the site in 1 page, it just doesn't make me trust the site. That and seeing keywords like "DHTML" or PAGE RANK".

Sorry if I seem to be harsh, I really hope I am wrong and the reboot idea doesn't die. I'm sure if the site is made with good intentions it will be a success.

Again, I really hope I am wrong.

Where are you seeing 7 slots for ads? there are only 2 google ad placements? are you speaking again of the sponsors? if that is the case I can only say that the cssreboot has always had sponsors. and those sponsors have always been in a rather prominent position on the site.

I just respectfully disagree with you that the site is ad heavy thats all. Once there are more members and then beyond that when the actual reboot happens the site will 'spread out' more so the density (which is the only thing i can see causing this concern) will no doubt go away as the site breaths more.

Another P.S. the only place you could possibly see 'key words' such as the ones you have given are two sponsords ads which are helping me advertise the site, and those terms are in the image itself, if you look in the code there are no 'keywords' beyond that of what are directly related to the site in the meta tags... I can't serve to everyones personal preferences, but you can rest assured that i am not looking for financial gain with this site, that i think was the eventual downfall of cssreboot i will not follow that same path. what you see here is what there will always be.

Since you made mention of trust, i tell you what i will do, for transparency sake i will modify the sponsor page to break down the sponsors into categories so you can at the very least see what each sponsor is contributing to the site, fair enough?

You can call it "ads" "sponsors" whatever... There's a high chance that some of those sponsors are paying to be there. It's all called Advertisement.

I wouldnt go so far as to call it hate, more skepticism if anthing and thats fine. I expected this actually, coming from Alex kinda threw me a bit but i do understand that alot of people will feel that this is a copycat of the cssreboot and i would agree with them if cssreboot was still running .I will transfer most of what i have said into an 'inception article' and post it on the site. thanks

http://cssremix.com/ has three ads and gets I am sure large amounts of traffic. I would also implement the rating system and thumbnails.

cssreboot.com is not dead - over 300 reboots are scheduled.

I have had family issues taking up any free time I had. Been through 4 programmers I have hired to help me complete the website... they all fizzled out... one by one. Sounds like we need a programmerReboot :-) I haven't even had time to get back to prospective sponsors. I didn't even put up any google adwords (and won't)

So I made some bad decisions on who I hire to help with programming... it's not the end of the world. :-)

The good news is I start working on May 1st reboot right after Nov 1st.
