I'm working on this website for a friend and it needs a litle life in it. The url is http://reveiled.net I also created a second template http://reveiled.net/dev.png but it's kinda hard for me to recreate the layout in css. Can someone tell me how they would seperate the divs ? I started on one but i's not to good http://reveiled.net/dev/
thanks. i'll get back to working on it tonight. Should'nt i put it all inside a main div ? What i did at first was put the main shadow in the main div then put all the divs inside but they were hiding the shadow even tough they did not have anything set as background.
The old one is awful. The new one has a good header, but you should try to make the menu with diffrent colors and also that "Remote help" and "House calls" fields look a bit wierd. Also you should make the footer green. Other than that seems alright.
It seems that I'm going against the normal here but I much prefer the first and current layout (http://reveiled.net/).
The green one is actually more professional but I'm not a fan on the header icon and it lacks something. I would say to add borders on the body (left and right), header (bottom), and footer (top), to see how it looks after that. As it stands right now, the green template looks like it's falling apart.
I also think (like nick) that your first layout is better for start, but naturally it has to be "fixed" to look modern and fresh. I like the simplicity and the combination of colors, even the left position, but you need to refresh it with one fine and colorful picture, and maybe the smaller fonts will be more attractive.
Your second layout it's not my taste, I think that I saw this kind of layouts for many times. Your font choice is hmm... but ok, the green that you used is nice and soft.
sebastienb... the second layout is far more proffesional, although the header style and colours are really a matter of personal preference. The second layout is actually fairly easy to create, and won't take much time to recreate from the template. You could use one main containing div, although it isn't completely necessary.
Also, I think nick1presta meant to add borders on the named elements for the second layout and not the first as you assumed. I agree with him that borders would help define the second layout.
I think a lot of problems with the header could be fixed with an underlying grid. Elements on the page just seem to be randomly placed. Try making things line up more and it would be a huge improvement.
