Hey, I have a question of basic image optimization. When Im working on something on photoshop, colors look a certain way. When I select save for web, the 2up screen shows me the original file, and , say .png file. Both look less saturated, washed out compared to the original. I would think that maybee the png would look different, but shoudent the original look the same as my working canvaas..??? Is there something to this.? thanks

Yeah colour profiles in Photoshop seem to be a pretty complicated topic. After trying to understand it on and off over the years, now I prefer to just find solutions that work and leave it at that. Here is the one I am currently using to get around the problem you described. As soon as I open any RGB file in Photoshop CS2 I go straight to the menu bar and select View/Proof Setup/Monitor RGB even if it appears to already be ticked. This alters how the file appears so it emulates how it will look once you try to Save for Web. So basically, to sum up: when you open a file it always looks darker or richer than it should. Selecting View/Proof Setup/Monitor RGB "fixes" this but you have to do that for every RGB file you open. Good luck.
