I just got a 19 inch Hanns-G LCD monitor and previously had some CRT flat screen and my question is whether or not anyone has gone through the same change. Because for me right now I feel as if the brightness and contrast are too high and the colors aren't their true brightness. I was trying to design a page for a project and it involved light shades of yellow much like the form used to post a thread on this thing. I went to some sites like airbagindustries.com, on that site the little yellow links section is a light shade of yellow/green and you can't really distinguish the difference shades of from top to bottom. However on my CRT that was much easier.

I have brought down the contrast and brightness down to the lowest and pulled back my monitor so my eyes center on the center of the monitor because it seems as if if you have it flat and you are looking towards the top of it, the bottom of the screen gets a higher contrast or something. I'm sure one of you guys are familiar with my situation and if you could tell me what your solution was or would be to this, it would greatly be appreciated it. Oh and for browsing and viewing videos especially, LCD rocks. But I noticed movies really do need brightness/contrass all the way up because dark lighting goes pure black.

Hey, I've also done the same a while ago - I found it quite difficult initially to choose pale colours that would show up well on LCD (esp. light yellow). Another thing I noticed I needed to take into account more was the fading at the edge of the LCD screen from your viewing angle, made me a bit more wary of low-contrast colour schemes for menus etc.

Low contrast on some LCD screens is an issue. However some (like my laptop) have an auto-adjustment feature, and will bring the low contrast colors into focus adjusting hue / saturation/ and brightness automatically. I've got a 19" Samsung which I love for everything. It makes low contrast colors seem astounding.

    Any solution?

I suppose you could always try calibrating your monitor. You could use an application such as Adobe Gamma (comes with Photoshop I think).
