Hey. I am working on making a plan for web development for the future projects. I am interested on what information do you ask for new clients when they say they want a web page?
Or maybe someone knows a good article on how to start/plan projects?
http://webstyleguide.com/process/develop.html - A great web resource! There is a great section on development process, if you have specific questions feel free to send me an email: me[at]samhowat[dot]com
Haven't spotted it yet... must have missed something...
1. Site definition and planning 2. Information architecture 3. Site design 4. Site construction 5. Site marketing 6. Tracking, evaluation, and maintenance
I guess their process is speaking as a designer working for an organization -- as opposed to a designer developing his own site. Most of the time, I'd say that content creation isn't apart of the mix -- information architecture is the organization of intended content (or contented created) -- but more times than not those building the site are not writing for the site. I am a little surprised they included "site marketing" in the mix -- I would think the same for marketing as for content.
I suppose the barebones of site-creation will be the same, but will 'bend' depending on the client - we all know the ones who have no content, or want a million word documents included. Also what about training and re-training (lol) on a CMS? When would it come in?
