Hello,
I am looking for an application that will search an FTP directory and search and replace a text string in all .php and .html files. Does anybody know of such an FTP app? Thanks. -

No, but surely if you have access, it would be safer and faster to download all of the files, do the replace on your machine, and re-upload?

It would be faster to write a php script that would do that if that is an option.

Well you can try NetDrive,
You can use netdrive to mount your ftp server on windows, and use some kind of software that does search and replace recursively.
I agree with 3stripe that best way to do is download all files, make a backup copy and do the search and replace on your machine. -

With dreamweaver you can obviously do a seach through files directly on the server, as well changing them directly on the server. However would it not be safer to do a find and replace first, then upload? -
Yeah, safety is kind of important... I can see things going wrong with a recursive php script.
