Once you start to design a page mock up using Photoshop or other Graph. program how large is the size of that document in pix?

I have a mock_template.psd file that I always use as my base it and that document is 1200px by 1000px. I do have guides in place for 990px and 770px widths. I always like to have a lot of breathing room on the sides of my document to ensure I don't forget about the background.
