I have to create a mock-up design for my (and I am still looking for one...so that's why I can't ask him :) )programmer.
Now the site will have many, many forms. Should I include/design them as well or should i leave that area blank and later on explain him what kind of form fields he should insert??
1. IA/UI designer creates wireframes indicating the optimal layout of the form fields 2. A designer creates a style document to illustrate how form elements should look 3. A front end developer uses the documents to write the code to layout and style the forms.
This process works in an agency type environment where you have people skilled in the individual roles I described above. You may be able to combine one, two or all three of the roles depending on whom you can find to fill the positions.
As a programmer (hint: I'm available if you're looking [varland@tobiasvarland.com]), I would like you to define the form fields, knowing that their appearance may vary slightly from your mockup.
I would design one form, including all elements (submit button, radio, check box, text input feild etc) and style that. Then just do a basic style guide for your form fields. This approach should suffice any decent programmers.
When you're working with the programmer to actually make the application, you're going to spend the time working on the forms anyway, so why not do it up front?
