CSS & HTML: Background Images disappear and then reappear with refresh in IE6

This site is still being put together so there are many elements that need to be refined, but i'm trying to work out the things i though would cause the most cross platform issues - the one thing i'm struggling with is my bullet arrows - they show up properly in all browsers except for IE6, where they sometimes disappear or reappear for no reason when being rolled over, or on refresh. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Try adding position: relative to those list items.

i can see all the bullets (background arrows and the regular bullets) on IE6. i am using XP with SP2
i know there is a different version ie6 where bugs appear -
the position:relative worked perfectly. Thanks so much for your help!
