I am responsible for our company e-commerce site. We have been around for many years. And our entire site is build using CSS. But it still has this table-look formatting (a 2 column div layout).
This is fine, and it works. But I would like to make the site more expressive. Does anyone know where I can find examples of e-shops styled with CSS? And I mean really unique designs not just the basic 2 or 3 column layout with a header and a footer. There are plenty of amazon look a like sites out there, we want to be different. Some examples wouldn't hurt...
I was also thinking to submit the site to a CSS enthousiasts community , so they can have their go on it. I know several sites like ZenGarden invite Illustrators to shape the same page many times over using a different style sheet. Imagine having several designs of our e-shop available for our users... ... It would be a gimmick but like so many things web2.0 it is about giving the power to the end-user.
I to work for a ecommerce company that is done totally in CSS. I have looked for other large internet retailers that might have some good inspiration but there seems to be none. If there are, they are usually small shops nothing like a large multi million company.
Take a look at what i tried to achieve, and it is a complete nightmare. Really think there needs to be a great desktop application that you can maintain your catalog's on. would make life much easier, and increase functionality to share databases etc Beauty Warehouse
