I've been beating my head against the wall all week trying to uncover an open source/free solution.
This is what I want to do

This is what I've found so far. PROBLEM is it doesn't drill down more then 2 levels.
Supports Parent-Child but no farther

What makes the GetElementByID solution so appealing is that is supports persistance.
Also a truly useful XML integration.
Unfortunatly it doesn't have a third tier of navigation. A fourth would be even better.
I've tried to modify the code and am going to give it another go shortly. However there
has to be a solution out there that I am just missing. -

The scriptaculous accordion has an accordion inside another accordion at stickmanlabs demo site. Perhaps you could make a four-level adaptation out of that?

Looking into that option - Not sure if it will work. Ideally I would love to just be able to write.
