I'm in the process of building a t-shirt site for a client and they are very interested in innovating a concept that has become tremendously over-done by adding new features. I've been studying the big t-shirt sites and they all seem to share similar features (css stock chart, good looking girls, upload your own photo. etc.)
I was wondering what everyone liked/disliked about the current staple sites and if anyone had any ideas on any new features they'd like to see. To see some examples of sites, check out threadless.com, bustedtees.com,defunker.com, snorgtees.com. etc.
Hmmm good question. Trying to improve on threadless.com is like trying to build an Amazon-beater!
Who is the client? Who do they want to sell to? Can you go for more of a niche-market?
I guess stock-charts, good looking girls and social-tshirt-networking are always a given because they sell more product....
Personally I think threadless's weakness is that it only really sells a certain style of tshirt. If you don't like their look, you will go elsewhere, as I do.
I actually used to buy tshirts from a company that guarenteed each tshirt was unique (ie they only printed one of each colour combination for each design they sold). That was a real usp.
