Hi everybody first and foremost i have to say that whenever i am looking for a answer about css when i goggle the question it leads me to this site which leads me to believe that this is where to get your css answers... now to the point i have coded html in the past with notepad and dreamweaver i still use Dreamweaver to this date.. Now heres the question Dreamweaver has no support for css in design view..and i have been looking at the css code of such huge sites as newgrounds.com and imdb.com i have web developer for Firefox it allows me to shut off the css and view it...i have noticed that these site rely heavily on css for design and html for there text php sql for the backend . now the lines of css code on these two sites index pages are in the thousands.
is there any professional css editor that i can use to produce css pages. I have looked around on this site at different posts and a lot of people are saying Topstyle and Stylemaster are good, but is that what the pros are using to produce sites of this caliber and size. i know alot of people code by hand but alot of thease sites have one or two coders(especially newgrounds) and the length of the code seems to big for any one person to write.. so thats what i was wondering what tools do they use or do pros use to create such sites(if its any different from what tools i have mentioned) i know what code there using php, html, css, ajax, etc. im looking to create sites of such size and that is content rich with css but want to get them done in a timely fashion and have them professional looking...if hand coding is what has to be done so be it. but im looking for a pro tool(whaterever the price of the tool is it makes no difference) that i can have a design view and clean up any code if necessary.I need some help from the pros and i think i came to the right place .. thanks again.. you guys and girls are great...

if im wrong in any way shape or form please correct me..

I've heard good things about CSSEdit, but I've never done anything that couldn't be coded in TextMate.

On the other hand, a large site doesn't necessarily equal a large CSS file.

I have worked with CSSEdit - It has a similar feature as Dreamweaver in that as soon as you start typing gives you a drop down of all of your options. But it also has an Interface, which Dreamweaver does not.

The one draw back of CSS Edit, in my opinion, is with the preview option. I usually end up just previewing the site in a browser. You might like the preview option, although you cannot edit the css directly from the preview mode (I do not think) if that is what you are looking for.

After playing around with several css applications I would have to say that I usually stick with TextMate and Dreamweaver.

    Hope this helps...

I use CSSEdit all the time. its preview and instant update is a great tool for quick mocking and final touches. Think, the second you make a change in the editor you can see that change on your website in the preview window.

    To use this functionality:

    1. open the all the css files associated with the desired site

    2. open live preview ~ menu->Preview->Show Live Web Prevew

    3. in the preview window click 'Add Site URL' and enter in the URL

    4. Now click the Override button

    5. then click each stylesheet and override it with the corresponding one that we opened

    6. now edit away in the regular editor window, and you will see you changes in the preview window LIVE!!!

The Web Developer toolbar for mozilla browsers is really nice, you can edit the CSS lilve and see the changes immediatelly, and it has more features other than that.
