While I have no idea what the plans for the future of this forum are, I'd still like to open up a discussion.

So, if the forum would get a major update, what would you like to see improved? Never mind the limitations of Vanilla.

    Here goes:

    1. Expiration dates for Employment Opportunities
    2. A bit more separation between general discussion and "how do I fix this" kind of practical advice
    3. Fewer posts about weddings and such

I agree Kari, it is annoying that posts over a year old for employment keep getting dragged up and we keep getting posts on here for Spot Creams, although I have to say the Dead Sea salts have done wonders for my skin..........haha!!!!

I don't really feel a community here, it just seems to read like a dumping ground for jobs, problems and spam. All of which get replied to badly or wrongly by our friends from India or such.

There needs to be a drive for quality posts... or some sort of specialism/niche, without it the forum can appear rather bland.

I say get rid of employment opportunities altogether. There are about 8000 other web design job boards, and they seem much better suited to that task than this forum.

All great suggestions guys, I'm going to try and push some of these changes in the next few days. Probably get rid of the employment section as I think it's a bit annoying as well.

I'll be in NYC for the FOWD conference so don't expect to see any change till after the coming weekend.

    Cheers!

    Good stuff.

Also, I wouldn't object to a wiki/faq repository of some sort, where the most commonly needed tips about floats and em sizes and quirks and such could be posted. A step by step starter pack, so to speak:

    1. Use reset.css
    2. Use percentage values for font sizes
    3. A width of 1em equals a width of 0.9759em in Internet Explorer

…and so forth, each item accompanied with a well-written explanatory article.
