Hello, I just found this site and looks like a very good site to hone my skills. My question is, I find myself struggling in crossing over to full CSS design. In the past I have just relied on slicing up my work and assembling in a table. Although the visual aspect is perfect, I want to be able to duplicate this look into a full CSS site but really having trouble trying to get the layout correct, functionality etc..I have purchased numerous books but because my designs have been so in depth the level in which these books teach just does not get to that level and unfortunately every client wants everything yesterday so to try and work out bugs blows out the deadlines.
I guess I feel like I'm not doing the client justice or myself but not giving them the latest technology and I'm starting to feel like I'm not part of that big ball rolling forward. This unfortunately is not my full time priority with my current employer but once they find out you design they just another hat to your job title, I'm sure many have been in this situation.
What do you recommend I do because I am trying to branch out but feel I cannot be competitive unless I get up to the latest design methods.
I say that you take time on a single project (probably not client work) and figure it out piece by piece. You'll learn those intricate details along the way.
