So I was wondering; should I build upon this, or is it another one for the wastebin?
I previously owned misinterpreted.org, but because of some problems with the hosting company, I lost it. I've still got the content, though, so I'll probably throw that into fourmargins. And I'll buy misinterpreted.org back when it becomes availiable (so I can redirect it to my new domain).
I like it. I think the layout is simple enough you can see the hierarchy immediately. I do feel though that the type is a little weak. The big leading does help make the text bodies lighter, but I think the text as a whole lacks impact. Just not strong enough. Maybe choose a stronger typeface or ease up on the lineheight.
For me, and this may well be just me talking, the lack of a different color or texture background around the actual content container is a bit disturbing. It leaves me with a sense of trying to figure out how wide the real content area is.
Assuming that your use of one large graphic for the page is just for illustration purposes, I only have a couple of comments/suggestions:
- I agree with Kurt that the content should be moved to the same left-hand position as the logo
-You may want to think about the weighting of your content. Right now the only hierachy you have is the vertical organization from top to bottom, which makes focussing the users attention somewhat difficult.
Thanks for your comments everyone! I'll look into the content alignment issue. Come to think of it, I actually agree. :)
I noticed that it it has been listed on a few CSS design promo-sites. I'm not sure how positive I should be to that, since it hasn't been released yet. But hey, any publicity is good, right? :)
