I have a header, that has a background that tiles a 1px width graphic, and I also want to put a background image over that tiling background.

Here is the screen shot of what it looks like in photoshop: http://i33.tinypic.com/5vsz1j.png

here is the work in progress website: http://herkimer.livebrad.com

I thought: "maybe I could just slice up the logo and the seal behind it", you'll see the seal faded into the background, so it won't jump out at you.

right now, the logo is transparent and matted w/ the color of the tiling header background.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe insert a div with another part of the graphic as a background; creating a layered effect.
Incidentally, allow me to suggest that you limit the width of the page and float it in the centre.
