    Hi Guys,

I've got a pretty solid handle on XHTML / CSS and now need to expand my skills to dynamic sites. I'd like to learn Javascript/DOM and I've looked at Jeremy Keith's 'DOM Scripting' for this.

For PHP/MySQL I've looked at Web Database Applications with PHP & MySQL, 2nd Edition - Hugh E. Williams and a few others but to be honest, I'm not sure where to start.

Any suggestions or general advice on this next step?

one of the best i've read: PHP 5: your visual blueprint for creating open source, server-side content

most of the content in it applies to PHP4 as well.

I read "PHP and MySQL Web Development" (Welling and Thornton) when I started. It's a great beginner's guide, hence the code is a bit simple. I think they're on their second edition now.

    one stop shop
    www.w3schools.com
    www.php.net

good examples on the first one and of course the end all be all on the actual namesake site.
