What search tool are you using for your sites?

Can someone please recommend a free or very inexpensive (yet good) Search box tool that I can add to my website? I want it to be customizable and would prefer that it have little to no advertising, especially if I am paying for it.

    Thanks!

I've heard the Yahoo search api is super powerfull. I think John Gruber uses it on Daring Fireball.

Edit: He does indeed use it. He mentions it a few paragraphs in. There are also some foot notes linking to explanations of how to use it.

I know one, http://www.atomz.com/. I am not sure whether their free search tools still exist or not. I have used it many years ago. That was real good, take a look. Highly customizable.

This one i have used on small projects - Zoom Search Engine 4.2 (http://www.wrensoft.com/). you can put it on sites with less than 50 pages for free. You can personalize everything from what should be more important to how to list the results. You can just index the site (like google) from your pc and upload the files, writes in ASP, PHP, and CGI also JavaScript for CD's... Most importantly no ADS!!!
No i dont work for them, but this software really helped me out on a few projects and I did a lot of research before i made my choice... Hope this was helpful

Thanks for all of the responses. I will check each of them out. Has anyone purchased and setup >> Site Search Pro (http://www.site-search-pro.com)? It is $39 with no ads. Sure it costs a little bit of money but it looks like it has some good features.

tying back to that Yahoo! search API thing:

Yahoo! search API docs (REST based API)
PHP developer center (includes how to make and parse REST API calls in PHP)

    Google APIs
Google Hacks has a section on making a Google API search page using the SOAP API in PHP
