(And there's this year-old color forecast by Adam Poselli that I still think is really cool.)

What do you think will be big in web design in 2006? What colors, layout styles, typography, etc., will web developers be using?

I agree with Alex, I think people will be paying more attention to the negative space (or white space) in their layouts. On the other hand, I don't think we'll be seeing fluid layouts in the classical sense but something more along the lines of dynamic resolution dependant layouts, so there will be more content and material available if there is more screen space, it won't just be a wider layout.

There's a trend towards larger, more readable font sizes and forms. People are noticing that you can say less with more impact if you font size is larger than 10px. I think we'll see more people ditching smaller sizes.

The biggest thing I'm hoping for is a move away from the austere white layouts that all of the new 'web-apps' seem to use. It's functional and looks minimal (kind of like the old old web) but it's getting to be a bit much. And enough with the pastels, it feels like a seven-year old girl vomitted happiness everywhere. Firewheel Design is good example of looking like the other guys but standing out in a crowd with the snazzy dark and vibrant colours.
