I need a simple WYSIWYG editor tutorial or script that I want to include in one of my websites.

I just need it to understand line breaks as typed by the user and simple text formatting (bold/italic/underline).

Does any one know of any out there on the net. Google hasn't been too helpful and pixel2life is down.

Though I've never used it I recommend Amaya on the sole basis that it's made by the w3c and its open source.

Heh..yea. I hear that a lot. Don't know why people say that all the time.

"I'm awesome, I use notepad instead of Dreamweaver"

I don't think I'm awesome because I use notepad, actually I don't think I'm awesome for any reason. I do think that using a basic text editor is the best way to develop xhtml and gives you more control if you know the language to begin with. I don't like WYSIWYG editors nor the code they produce. But if people want to use them then I won't stop them. There isn't a need for them though if you know the language. Though I have used various programs for their text editting advantages e.g. syntax highlighting, auto complete and tabbing and deleting and searching functions. But yeah, just cause someone uses a certain program doesn't mean they can't still produce bad code.

Thank you nifkin. I found widgEditor to be the best suited for my project.

However I feel this discussion is heading in the the wrong direction for some. I needed a simple script that allows a user to do basic formatting via textarea and a WYSIWYG integrated editor.

People have started to debate the WYSIWYG editors' pros and cons, which is ok with me but exceeds the point of the topic.
