Hello--I am in final design stages of my site and was told that the site had some bugs in Safari...So here I am, on a friend's MAC trying to fix the bugs...(not fun)

-Most bugs have been fixed already, but there is still a CSS positioning problem(?) where a gradient is not in the correct position, see here for a look:

    >>The site looks perfect in Firefox, Explorer...
    >>So, why is the gradient block not in right position...(in Safari)

    Thanks for any help.

Where does the site live (URL)? It is sort of tough without looking at your CSS. At first glance I can't really guess what is off.

Having compared the result in both FF 1.5.3 and Safari 2.0.3 I can barely be sure that I see the difference - and being a graphic designer etc I should be able to.

If there really is an issue that you can see that I can't (an earlier version of Safari maybe?) I'd be inclined to say that it is more likely to be due to how Safari handles gamma than an actual CSS problem. I've experienced that Safari adjusts gamma differently to other browsers (maybe my version has changed that?). If this sounds worthwhile invesetigating to you, try making that gradient a gif or a jpg (without a colour profile) instead of a png, and see how that goes.

Maybe if you put a different, more detailed image in there for testing purposes, it would be easier to see if there was a positioning difference.

    Good luck.

Great question! What version of Safari are you on? I see the same thing that iCapture shows: http://www.danvine.com/icapture/tmpss/123557.png

I was looking at the site on a Mac running OS 10.3.9 that does not allow upgrade to Safari2 (?)--So, to answer the question, I think the problem only occures in Safari versions BEFORE 2...but, anyways, I think the problem may be solved now and if not, I am done working on it (I don't think the small number of Safari 1 users warrants too much more of my time...not trying to be rude, just practical...)

THANKS for the educated responses, this is a great site, I will be back!

ALSO, a group of designers and I are teaming up at Fundable.org to buy a group membership to BrowserCam.com ...I have heard good things about this service and it looks like a great way to locate cross-browser bugs very quickly in a huge variety of browsers. I think it also lets you navigate through the site itself, not just screenshots--I could navigate through my site as if I was on a MAC from my PC...

Anyways, maybe you are interested in joining our group (only $25/yr. compared to individual cost of 500+)---If you want to join the group at Fundable, go here http://www.fundable.org/groupactions/beley-browsercam

NOT SPAM, just trying to help, I do not have a membership to BrowserCam yet (see my name in the forum discussing browsercam on sitepoint.com http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/showthread.php?t=345568 )
