I've recently 'completed' a site that works fine on IE 6, 7 and FF on a PC. However, my client opened it on her Mac and informed me that the drop-down menus were not working correctly. Could a Mac user out there please have a look at:

    www.mdot5.com/shearer/

and let me know what you find? Apparently the drop down list under the "Projects" heading is appearing way over to the left, under "About Us".

Any comments on my CSS are appreciated - this is one of my first cracks at this. Bonus points if you would like to provide screen shots of the site's issues.

    A couple things:

RULE #1 - ALWAYS find out what kind of browser your client is looking at your work on.

    You say:

my client opened it on her Mac...

You do realize that there is more than one browser available for use on a Mac right? Which OS is she using (9, 10)? Did she see the work on IE 5.1, IE 5.2 (Mac), Safari, Firefox (if so, which version of FIrefox or Safari)? We need more details.

    Finally...

This service costs a little money, but it's WELL worth it:
    http://www.browsercam.com/

    Good luck.

Just to follow up, I know that their browser is Safari, unsure of which version. I'm also unclear on their OS - it should be some release of version 10.

    Speaking of Browsercam.com
-- Did you know that there are teams of designers at Fundable.org raising money for group memberships to BrowserCam (it reduces the cost to $25/yr, instead of around 500 for individual membership.

Yep, I am a member of one of these groups and we are close to our goal, we only need a few more contributers...Go here to see the group:

Can you test dropdown menus with this service? I was under the impression that it only provided you with screenshots.

Not pricey if you join Browsercam with a group...We only need 3 more people to join our group in order to get your own BC membership for only $25/yr.

I tried it on ie 5.2 on my mac (can't get a more recent one) and no drop downs and the padding is not right. On safari 1.3.2 the drop downs are their but the padding is also off. Firefox all good. I also ran a quick search through http://del.icio.us and found this link, seems to work fine on the above browsers.

But css drop downs on ie can be tricky, haven't had a go at them yet (avoid at all costs, figured out different ways of navigating) Convince your client to use firefox!

IE for mac has been discontinued as a whole and even microsoft won't let people download it any more. Furthermore: it hasn't been updated in over 5 years now and it's well-documented that it treats CSS horribly.

Yeah, it's dead and buried, almost...

See http://www.simplebits.com/notebook/2006/03/16/arkanoid.html for a good way to hide your CSS styles from IE Mac users...
