That depends on the structure of the html code, but most likely it's possable.

You should (though browser support may be iffy) be able to apply a background-image to your OPTION elements, I think.

Perhaps this can come in handy:

The guys from designsnack have replaced the select box with an unordered list, which can be styled pretty nicely:

    Good luck.

    Nifkin,

I don't think that's possible. I've tried styling the background property on the <option> tag without any luck.

Of course, one of us could stop speculating and just do a test - but who has time?

okay okay, i was guilted into it (shakes fist at adjustafresh): over here there's a test page

    it works, but:

    1. Not in IE6 (ie7 won't open the dropdown and throws up a "popup blocked!" message, huh?)

    2. Not on the default selected item (or the item that shows when the select box is closed again).

so yeah, i guess that does really go in the "does NOT work" column. :)

    Hey Jan Meeus!

This is exactly what I was looking for.
I know you can style background with CSS but it doesn't look like you can add images there unless you using custom control like in a link you mentioned.

    Thank you, DS

Although it looks nice - http://www.easy-designs.net/articles/replaceSelect/
it does not have support to use separate image icon for each option in select menu.

    Cheers,DS
