I've been recently reading many posts about building and re-building portfolio websites, but none have particuarly helped me. I like designing mostly based on images and fluid CSS. I like using Javascript to enhance the images, as well as do things with imagemaps. I already have a portfolio site, but nothing came to my head as in how to optimize it. I guess I'm almost asking for recommendations on how to sort of "build-off" of my already so-so established folio. Any suggestions?
Might I add, I don't have this type of stuff in my site, but I've looked at sites before (sorry, don't know the urls :-\), and I like the sort of cartoonish style sites (kind of like this site). Like the sweet starbursts in the background :-p. But I need an inspiration to sort of get my site going without completely stealing other people's content. Thanks.
This might help ..I don't know if already know it : www.deviantart.com They a have a lot of galleries featuring artwork sych as the one you want for your website...so you could find some inspiration in there. Another one..
(I'm getting some errors when previewing posts: "Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /var/www/vhosts/cssbeauty.com/httpdocs/skillshare/extensions/ForumStats/default.php on line 12"
Also, does the forum no longer automatically insert anchor tags around URI's?)
Is it a good idea to post work you are still working on. I mean, work that is more or less finished but with a few quirks and broken links and you mentioned that it is not complete yet.
It is okay to present unfinished work, but label it as such. When responding to emails from RFP's, I typically send a few links of work and then send a few more links of "projects in development". I've occasionally sent in HTML files that are just one large JPG (concept previews) -- really in development. The key is to ensure it is clear to the client what they are viewing.
