xcart is featureful and templated, but the markup and code is pretty poor.. it took me a couple of weeks to clean up the html. it's truly a nightmare. The software is definitely useful, but I wouldn't use it again unless I absolutely had to. A more feature absent cart would be cubecart. It's fairly clean, templated, a good overall general purpose cart. You may want to check out virtuemart.net as well, the Joomla integrated cart.. Joomla's architecture and history of poor security are more than enough to prevent me from every "recommending" it without some kind of disclaimer, such as this one :).

    good luck..

I have been working with couple of shopping cart softwares and they all sucks. There isn't cart softwares that are clean, customizable and easy to implement.

I guess you need a server side programmer to work with you.

I dont have experience with ecommerce myself but from my community (www.phpwcms.de/forum) I hear good stories about implementing custom ecommerce solutions. Sometimes it is very easy.

Just read one of these threads: http://www.phpwcms.de/forum/search.php?mode=results.

    Solutions that are mentioned:
    http://opensolution.org/
www.zencart.com (an os commerce fork, but much better)
    www.cubecart.com
    www.cpcommerce.com
    www.ecommercetemplates.com

    >> Oscommerce seems to be a hell to implment but has a lot of features.

    I also read this:
Its been a while since I had the chance to use phpwcms again on a project but here is a new site for a client of ours. There are 2 sides to the site - corporate and ecommerce. I used phpwcms for the corporate site - www.spacecraftint.com/office/

for the ecommerce we ended up using www.ecommercetemplates.com after we had problems with zen cart.
Zen is powerfull and free but ecommercetemplates costs very little and the templates are so easy to customise which made it the perfect match for phpwcms Very Happy

anyway you can see the shop here if your interested:

I see that Open Solution promises all the things that I'd most like to see in a shopping cart:

    >>>>>>>>>
    # Speed - designing web shop we tried to minimize the HTML code and also made possible generating small pictures, making web loading as short as possible,
    # Standards - our solutions are compatible with XHTML 1.0 and also with settings of most of the popular servers,
    # Template system - we made our best to seperate the logic and presentational layers from each other. The web shop outlook change, is really simple and it works through templates in which complicated PHP language is not used at all.
    >>>>>>>>>>

Does anyone know if this is true, or is it just marketing jargon?

As you said, Cncindia has one shopping cart. Actually Our Company has 3 shopping cart 2 are .asp. and 1 is in php. If you need I will convey to my company.

And I am also doing freelancing myself. And I done the cncindia’s shopping cart and it is pretty good if you can send the requirement I will give you the pricing details and customize the cart with your requirement.

Shopify was released about a month ago. It's standards based and the design looks good. No idea how well it actually works though, but it's free so I'd definitely check it out if I were looking for a shopping cart.
