    I'm trying to do this on our dedicated server, which is a Windows machine.

    So, I've added "magic_quotes_gpc = On" to the php.ini machine, and restarted IIS.

    But if I run phpinfo(), magic quotes are still turned off.

    Any suggestions?

    Are they still turned off, or do they just appear to be? I think 4.3 on IIS has a bug that causes your problem.

    Ah-ha... they are magically (excuse the pun) working now.... not sure how, but they're on :)
