Working on a mockup for a client, he owns a salon place and does a lot of high-end hair cutts (or whatever they call them) and was wondering what you thought of my mockup...
Looks like a video game website. I'd suggest you try to capture a chic, high-society, modern, fashionable look. Lots of good script/roman/serif typography.
I know what you mean... thanks for the opinion... and you are right now that I look at it. I do however still do verdana and tahoma just because it seems that people love that font when reading on a screen. I will try to make it more classy instead of playfull though.
I agree that a sans-serif typeface should be used for body copy (Verdana is the most legible), but some serif, roman, and script just add that touch of elegance. Dark on light is also a good way to add elegance.
"Everything is wrong with that. It's just means you not confident what you do or have very low self esteem"
-I had no idea that not being narrow minded, and being open to others' opinions means a lack of confidence or low self esteem... but then again you probably just said that so you could feel better about yourself or start a flame war... either way someone can delete this thread now.
Well, it just doesn't make any sense to have a topic called "General Design," then not allow discussion on general design. And no, DS, it has nothing to do with self-esteem. There's nothing wrong with seeking a little help and criticism. Design is not about ego.
that's pretty funny. change the topic from "mockup review" to "mockup problem" and you're within the rules. maybe change "wondering what you thought" to "wondering if you can help me".
pretty absurd imo. personally, I think these reviews are some of the most intriguing and informative threads. It's disappointing to see that it's not encouraged.
anyway, to get on with your design "problem": I can't really read the top links well, the red transition thing looks off base, the top is wavy while the content area seems too linear.. charles is creeping me out a little too. best of luck with your "problem".
Haha, thanks dhayes with my design problem, someone at the design firm I work for mentioned the text being a bit too hard to read as well. I think I may scrap it and have it more based on the http://www.johnfrieda.com/index.asp link that pettyrider posted. This week I won't have time though, I still haven't registered for this semester for classes and they started today. I may have to cut back on 40 hour work weeks.
